Dendera and Abydos Day Tour

The city of Dendera is located about 55 kilometers north of Luxor on the left bank of the Nile.

Dendera and Abydos Day Tour

The history of this place began in pre-dynastic times. Dendera was the seat of the sixth district of Upper Egypt, and the local goddess was Hathor. When the excavations began, the temple was half covered with desert sand. Today, it is one of the best-preserved buildings from ancient Egyptian times, with an entire roof still intact. Even some remnants of paint from the decoration of the temple have been preserved.
Among other places rich in history, we will also see the sacred lake, this is an ancient Egyptian temple. An artistic pond with rectangular walls and access by stairs. Each priest had to take a bath in the lake at dawn before entering the temple. We will also show you Mammisi (birth house). After visiting Dendera we drive to Abydos. Where we will rest and have lunch in a good restaurant. After a lunch break, we continue our expedition and visit Abydos with all the sights.

  • Abydos Temple

The Mortuary Temple of Seti is an archaeological site on the west bank of the Nile. This place was an important necropolis in the country. Until the end of the 1st dynasty, the servants and supporters of the rulers were buried in Abydos at the same time as the pharaohs. The mortuary temple of Pharaoh Seti I is located in Abydos.

Here in Abydos, among other things, we see the chapel of Amun, the Royal Gallery and the remains of a walled well. At the Temple of Abydos, admire the very well-preserved reliefs, flowers, images and hieroglyphic symbols carved in stone with clarity and precision. In Abydos they worshiped the god Osiris. Learn a lot about Dendera Temple and Abydos from your guide. After an impressive tour, we begin our journey back to Hurghada, where we will say goodbye to you with a fantastic experience.
